Memorial Day Weekend

Our Memorial Day weekend was filled with relaxation! It was so nice to hang around the house and be with each other. Also, Birc's sister and her family are in town and got in just in time for the weekend to get underway. Savannah got some great cousin time in and we've had so much fun hanging out with everyone! I wish I had taken more pictures but I was too busy enjoying family and relaxing.

We went to Garvan Woodland Gardens on Saturday with everyone, church on Sunday, and the movies and out to eat with my parents and sis and brother in law on Monday. Low key, just how I like it. [As you can see, Cadence is also an expert at the low-key lifestyle. :)] (Also, and apology that my picture never have captions anymore and are also out of order. Blogger app is HORRIBLE but I'm dealing with it anyway.)

We both survived.

Well, we both survived. And so did Birc! Savannah spent about 5 hours in daycare to ease her into the long 8-hour days ahead and I think she had a pretty good day! Hopefully she'll sleep well tonight and have a good day tomorrow. (she has NOT been sleeping well the past few nights, like up every hour)

Looks like someone's going to daycare!

(If I'm being honest,) I've been dreading this day since I knew I had a baby on the way, and it is already here! I know Savannah will be fine at daycare but it still hurts my heart and makes me have a pit in my stomach to think she'll be with people she doesn't know in a place she doesn't know... :( I know she'll love having the two wonderful teachers and 3 other babies to get to know though. I'll be right across the street so I'm sure I'll be making trips over to check on my sweet girl.

Anyway I've been getting things ready around here! This weekend will be really busy with getting all her things labeled and prepared according to her school's checklist. I've already got her little backpack and tote for bottles and extra outfits packed. I, by the way, had the hardest time picking out her backpack! I looked at a hundred I think, and finally went with something basic because I figured I'd wait until her personality comes out more before I pick something with a theme. :)

Next Tuesday, miss Savannah will be hanging out with Ms Christa! Say some prayers for me and her (and Christa)! Hah :)

Workin' Girl

Savannah has been coming up to my office now and then to hang out with me! You can see what a hard job she's got. :)

Somebody went swimming!

Well more like sitting in a tub while still clothed, in Savannah's mind we think, but who cares? Adorable baby in a cute swimsuit? Can't beat that! (and, yes, I do see that her arms look broken and S-shaped in the third pic, but don't be deceived, that's just adorable fat rolls.)

Happy 5 months, Savannah!

Miss Savannah is growing like a weed, of course, and we are loving her more and more each day! I can't believe she is weeks away from being half a year old already! As of May 6, Savannah was still in size 2 diapers, and wearing 3-6 and 6 month clothing.  She is starting to sit on her own for a few seconds or even longer if she's focused on doing something she likes, she smiles and laughs out loud, and squeals in delight all the time! She can roll from front to back and back to front and can do a push-up position for a while when she's on her belly.

She puts just everything she can in her mouth, and loves chewing on her hands and feet.  We didn't weigh her on her 5 month birthday, but I think she was at about 16 or 16 1/2 pounds because now she's 17 pounds.  I have no idea how long she is  either, but I do know all her outfits get too short before they get too small around her middle, on her arms, or legs.  She is going to have a long torso!

C'mere Dumbo!

 Gotcha!
As you can see, the 'everything's going into her mouth' was NOT an understatement.  You'll see more examples below.  SCM is loving hanging out with her CC every day while I go to work, and I love that my mom is getting this time with her.  It is special for both of them.

I think Savannah's colic is mostly gone, and it is so nice most of the time.  Unfortunately, just about the time it has left, 'stranger danger' has happened! She is having some serious separation anxiety if Birc or I or my mom aren't holding her which is just no fun for us or anyone else. Does this pass quickly? Because she's headed to daycare in 1 week!  She is sleeping much better [knock on wood] and is mostly sleeping thru the night (about 9 or 10 hours straight, and then for another 2 or 3 hours) which is just glorious.  If we could only get her to sleep that well in her crib.  She goes from the crib, to the swing, to the nap nanny, to anything she'll sleep in each night! It just varies from night to night, but she is seeming to get stuffy in her nose when she sleeps flat on her back or side in the crib, any suggestions for that? We've got a humidifier I could plug in.

Mama, please can we be finished?

Savannah is getting more and more fun and Birc and I are so lucky to have her here with us.  We get tired and it gets tough when we don't get enough sleep, but we are always so thankful for her and just love having her here with us.  We can't wait to see what the next month brings!

Mother's Day

[I haven't posted yet about Savannah at 5 months but I will get to it before she's 6 months, I promise!] In the meantime, I've got some pics of Mother's Day that I'll share below! Unfortunately I woke up with a horrendous crick (sp?) in my neck and was feeling pretty under the weather the whole day, and apparently SCM woke up on the "wrong side of the bed" as well because she wasn't her friendliest self either. But, we pushed thru it and went to a great celebration at Anna and Aaron's house with yummy food! Thanks for hosting, guys!! Everything was perfect and yummy and we can't wait for another one of your parties :). (Daddy, I should have included your pics from your iPad but I'm on my phone so I can't!) hope everyone has a great weekend!

2 years, people!

Today is our 2 year anniversary! I never imagined we would have a 5 month old on our 2 year anniversary, but I sure cannot imagine life without our sweet Savannah Cate.

There we were, two years ago! It is CRAZY that it's been two years, and at the same time it seems like forever ago!

Here we were last year on our anniversary:
We really dressed up for the occasion as you can see.

We ate steaks and baked potatoes and salads on our fine china! It was super fun!

And the best part? The defrosted cake! It was SO yummy and tasted just as good as the year before! I wish we had some still...

Anyway, LOVE HIM! :) Happy Anniversary to us!

Birthdays all around!

Today (the last 30 minutes of it) is Delaney's third birthday! She is my cousin Keath's daughter and I think she kinda started this whole blog thing in my family.  When Keath and Jen were expecting her, I just had to check their blog every day to see if there was any baby news or anything! I was so thrilled when she arrived and she is growing into just the most precious little girl-I hope she teaches Savannah all her cute tricks.
Her first birthday was spent at my rehearsal dinner and we had a little cake for her.  She wasn't too sure about it but it was SO CUTE!

the girls! (and Maxwell cooking)

Anyway, we hope you have had a great birthday, Delaney! Thanks for getting our family rolling with the blogs!

Total fail on my part, guys

Sorry y'all, I am so overbooking myself these days. And it is not slowing down til at least next week with Mother's Day on Sunday and our 2nd anniversary on Tuesday (!) Here are some cute shots my mom has snagged while I'm away at work! Coming up next: 5 month post! (the last pic can tell you how that photo shoot went. Hah!)

Backpack?

I'm on the lookout for a backpack for Savannah with a matching lunch box for daycare. Anybody have any good sites to recommend? I want it to be monogrammed and I am nervous to get something quilted or a fabric that doesn't clean easily. Thoughts and suggestions are needed! Savannah says thanks!
