Our Day

We started out slowly this morning, since miss Savannah decided to stay up ALL. NIGHT. LONG.  Caddo enjoyed the cuddle time.

Then SCM tried on her monogrammed diapers we got as a gift from the Coopers.  Still a little big, but she approved :)

Then I really wanted some muffins, so i decided we could handle a 2-minute project. I was wrong.  (they were the kind you just add milk to - easy stuff)  When SCM heard she wasn't getting any muffins, she told me how she felt :)
We also had a great visit from Great-Granddaddy, Grandad, and CC that hopefully I can post about tomorrow.  (hint: send me the pics y'all took!)

Oh, and happy 8 weeks Savannah! :)

Recovery

Please bear with me as I recover from FOOD POISONING ATTACK of 2012.  I will be back to blogging in a day or two, but spent Friday through Sunday sick as a dog and it is terrible.  I say food poisoning instead of stomach virus, because, Birc and Savannah have not shown any symptoms so I cannot imagine they would get it by now (but go ahead and knock on wood for me anyway).

Boysies

Boysies, that's what I call the kitties.  I think male neutered cats are the BEST cats you can have in your home.  (no offense Sophie and Belle-your parents think you're the best) Caddo and Cadence are so patient with Savannah.  It must be terrible to go one day with your life as you've always known it, and the next, a screaming, wiggling, hairless object comes and invades your home, and more importantly, your 'people's' laps and arms.  I am glad they are good kitties who can put up with a lot.  They even almost love SCM already.  Caddo licks her on the hands or her hair [although he could be trying to 'clean' her?] and Cadence doesn't even run from her anymore :)

This is where they sit while Birc and I eat dinner.  :)

sweet Caddo resting on my lap but keeping an eye on sleeping Savannah :)

And just for kicks and giggles, here is miss Savannah yesterday on her 7 week birthday!

And the day before in a precious little purple dress!

Happy Wednesday!

Last week in pictures-without the crying

SCM has decided to let us know when she is unhappy, and it gets serious FAST in her mind.  She has been crying a ton and we are not getting much rest in this house! Since she was born, I kept hearing, 'wait till she's 6 weeks, everything gets easier then'.  Well.  Let me tell you something.  It has not gotten easier, instead it has gotten much harder this past week and a half! Birc and I are just surviving right now :)  However we did manage to snap some cute shots with the iphone anyway.

Birc got to feed her with a bottle of breastmilk for the first time this weekend! She did really well and drank the every bit she was offered.
 She likes it!
 A tiny smile! yay!
Love this little elephant sleep sack.  I think it is precious with the button eye!
We went to church for the first time 3 weeks ago, and she slept thru the entire service! yay!
Her little smocked dress for her second time to church was SO. CUTE.  love it!

Here's to hoping week 7 is better. Can't believe she'll be 7 weeks on Tuesday.  Crazy!

Morledge Christmas

Just realized I never posted the last leg of our Christmas journey! We went to Birc's parents house on Christmas day afternoon and had a great time eating, exchanging gifts, and playing with our niece and nephew, Anna and Aiden.
 making a gingerbread house!
Birc and his sis, Melissa, with SCM.
Melissa's older child, Anna.  So pretty!

Turns out I was completely exhausted by this point and took literally 3 PHOTOS.  Seriously people, I really messed up! However, we did have a great time and can't wait for SCM to get bigger so she can play with Anna and Aiden at Nana and Gran's house :)  We had a yummy dinner with chicken lasagna and chocolate pie and lemon ice box pie for dessert.  YUM.  Then we exchanged gifts which was so cool to see the kiddos open their gifts.  Next Christmas will be so fun with Savannah is 1 year old.  It only gets better from here!

Can't wait to see them again soon!

One month old!

I can't believe Savannah is already over a month old! We took some photos on the 6th of January when we were in Searcy, but wanted to have some in her crib to compare month-to-month.  We took those on the 7th, but I don't think you can tell she's a day older :)

She was super sleepy in these first ones, from the actual 6th of January.  But still precious. :)

hands in the air-I'm innocent Mama! I promise-the blue elephant did it!

are we finished yet? I'm starting to get impatient...

...and that's it! I'm finished whether you are or not!

The dumbo stuffed animal was the first toy Birc and I bought for Savannah, before we knew if she was a girl or boy.  We went to Disney back in June-July with my parents and had to bring something home for the baby in my belly!

At one month, Savannah weighed 8 pounds, 15.5 ounces (c'mon, that's basically 9 pounds!), head was 14.25 inches, and was 21.5 inches long.  She had a great checkup with Aaron and was sleeping well and eating well (at that time!).  She moved right up from around the 10% weight to the 50% in weight :)   She has had a little cold she picked up somewhere with some nasal congestion but nothing too bad.  She still wore newborn diapers through her first month and was wearing all newborn clothes still.  We've had such fun getting to know her and getting to know each other as parents [and as sleep-deprived humans].  We are looking forward to what the next month brings!

Savannah's Christmas outfits

I know this sounds like a silly post, but miss SCM had some special Christmas outfits I want to remember!
her little Santa sleep sack/pantsuit that was SO CUTE (with Caddo laying beside her on my lap keeping her warm of course)

her cute socks! (sorry, upside down)

Her snowflake onesie that her aunt Anna painted for her!

little tshirt onesie to remember the occasion! :)

Smocked dress that was Anna's and matched our cousin Stephie's dress from childhood too.  Now it is on Savannah, how cool?

You can't see the writing, but this says My First Christmas down the left side.  Anna and I both wore this little tshirt on our first christmas when we were about 3 months old each.  Special again!

And just for fun, here are Birc's and my 'christmas outfits' hah!

And here's our mini tree that was a compromise for Birc and me.  I wanted a normal tree just like we get every year, and he wanted no tree at all since we have a new baby, so we decided to meet in the middle and get a 4 1/2 foot tree! :) We loved it :)

Patterson Christmas

My family had Christmas at my parents house and we had a great time carrying out traditions that we hold on to every year! We ate fried quail and all the fixin's and had strawberry shortcake for dessert.  That's how my dad's family has done it every year, for I'm pretty sure as long as I've been alive.  My mama cooks it all up and my dad fried the quail, and it was all very yummy! We loved getting to hang out with Granddaddy, Steve, Jan, Daddy, Mama, Anna, and Aaron.  It was low-key and very fun.  At the end of the night we got to read Savannah the Night Before Christmas story, and the story of Jesus' birth from Luke 2.  Very special. :)
Granddaddy and Uncle Steve chattin'

 Daddy frying the quail! YUM!
Uncle Aaron checking up on his favorite patient. :)

 Family pic!
SCM is a lucky girl that Santa LOVES obviously! She got tons of great stuff! Among those are a first Bible with her name on it, a jewelry box, some books, and diapers and wipes of course! :) I also can't leave out Birc's favorite gift of her's, the Hungry Catapillar stuffed animal, that has a zipper on his booty that opens up and out comes a huge blanket with a BUTTERFLY on it! How cool!

SCM and my Santa presents! I got a roomba, a sewing machine, and some ornaments and other goodies in my stocking!
Birc's awesome haul from Santa! A TV for his workout room, golf shoes, a law book[??], clothes, and other stuff in his stocking that I can't remember! :)
Anna and Aaron got SCM the sweetest things! The adorable dress, great books, and much needed diapers! I love that my sis picks out things for my sweet girl.  It makes my heart happy :)

Savannah is so lucky to get so much stuff-I only wish she could say thank you too, cause I don't feel like my 'thank-you's' are sufficient! This is what CC and Grandad got for SCM! a humidifier, lots of books, some thank-you notes, name cards, a sippy cup with her name on it, stackable blocks, a Nemo fish for the tub that swims, her first Madam Alexander doll-Peter Pan!, and some teething toys too!

Books from CC and Grandad [they had just written in them so SCM would know when she received them and the paper towels were absorbing the marker stuff so it didn't reprint.]

Walker Christmas 2011

My mom's side of the family always gets together the weekend before Christmas to celebrate, and we had a great time having it in Searcy this year so that Birc and I could go with SCM.  Everyone just drove up on Saturday and Sunday and we spent our time hanging out and eating, while catching up with everyone's lives.  SCM was a little over 2 weeks old here!
4 Generations! GrandJoyce, CC, Amy, Savannah

My mom's youngest sister, Maia meeting SCM

and my mom's younger [middle] sister meeting SCM [please ignore how exhausted I appear!]

Anna and Aaron had taken Tucker out to potty and Birc snapped this great shot! If only Tucker had been looking at the camera...

All the cousins, their boys, and the baby.  We missed seeing Graham, Lesley, and Cathryn so much!   We had a great time though and are hoping to get together this summer at the lake.

My baby girl is growing up!

She's officially out of the newborn size diapers! :( We moved up to size one yesterday, after really struggling to get the newborn size to fit around her adorable belly.

In SCM news, she is really loving her baths these days, and I know any day she will be smiling at us because she almost does it now.  She also LOVES her little activity mat (or whatever they're called?) and can stare at the 'safari animals' for a long time.

My readers [I know, like 5 total]  will be glad to know I'm getting caught up right now and plan to have lots of blog posts coming up.  I can't wait to catch up on reading all my friends and family blogs too-miss Savannah has kept me very busy and very sleepy.  But I'm adjusting.

For now, here's a little sneak peak of her 1 month photo shoot from last Friday!

still not caught up...

I still want to post about our wonderful Christmas holiday, but it is already past New Year's and I can't get caught up! Hopefully soon.  Here's our weekend in iphone pics to show you guys what a great time we had as a family!
Savannah had her first two dinners out this weekend! Friday we went with Birc's mom and dad to eat at their country club, and Saturday we went to Graffiti's restaurant for New Year's with both our families.  Super fun!

After a little cold lingered around for a week, Savannah hadn't been able to sleep on her back very well but we are back to it now! She'd been sleeping propped up in her bouncy seat...poor girl.

Cadence-Bo-Badence finally has realized SCM isn't going anywhere, and she isn't too bad either.  He had been really scared of her until this weekend and he's finally coming around!

Caddo is still happy she's here.  In fact, he nominated himself as her first toy by jumping in her toy basket CC brought for our den!

With the 60+ degree weather, we finally got out and went on a little family walk! We like our stroller!

Savannah is finally really filling out her newborn clothes! She's getting ready to pack on the pounds (or ounces, at least) and be a cute pudgy baby!

We did a lot of sleeping so that was SUPER nice.

See?

Hope everyone had a happy and restful weekend! Now back to the grind...(for my hubby anyway)
