New Look!
I've edited my blog look-what do you think? This feels more summer-y to me and I am coming upon a year with the blog so I thought it was time! Can someone tell me how I can put a small picture in the title to the right of the text?
Franke's dinner
Birc and I, along with everyone else over 50, LOVE Franke's Cafeteria! I grew up going to it when we would come to town and I re-introduced it to Birc when we started dating. Savannah had her first eating experience there the other night and did awesome! Granted, she ate the homemade sweet potato purée I made for her and not Franke's food but she didn't know the difference! She sat up so well in the rolling high chair and ate her sweet potatoes until she licked the container clean. :) This was definitely our best dining experience to date. What a cutie!

Just a quick hello...
To say hopefully everyone will better by Friday so we can at least enjoy the weekend. Savannah is all better but Birc and I are a few days behind her we think. Here's a quick picture from last weekend when we were all well.

Under the weather
We're under the weather over here in our house. Savannah got a cold from somewhere or another and Birc and I both caught it. She's not been sleeping well at all since she's so so stuffy. So needless to say, we are all exhausted in addition to being stuffy with sore throats and itchy eyes and stopped up ears.

Bathing Beauty
Savannah is having all kinds of bath time changes lately as she's now sitting up in her bath, she's playing with toys in the water, and she's graduated from her infant tub! We put her in this ducky tub because I thought it'd be softer than the actual tub, but the jury is still out on this thing. It is just as small as the infant tub so it seems pointless to use but it is softer if she falls to one side or backwards... Sometimes we use it and sometimes we don't. She loves it, though!

Jumping Savannah
We got a little jump 'n jive jumper and Savannah is leaning to use it finally! She hated it at first but now she seems to think it is ok for a short time. She still hasn't figured out how to jump yet but she is doing some bouncing! Which is adorable, by the way.

Eating Savannah
I've apparently got a theme going on of everything she did this past weekend! She also finally found something she likes to eat! Sweet potatoes! Although these pictures don't show how much she loved them, she really did gobble them up and only got mad at the end because she was getting thirsty. :) at least she is eating something besides breast milk now. I mean, she's almost 7 months old!

Swingin' Savannah
Another first from CC and Grandad's house was swinging in a swing outside! She wasn't sure what was happening at first but when she figured it out she had a ball! I think she liked that she kept coming back toward my face each time because she would squeal each time!

Swimming Savannah
Savannah had a lot of firsts at CC and Grandad's house this weekend, one being swimming in the big pool! She even kicked and splashed like she knew she was supposed to! (and yes we did not put her in her swimsuit because we were about to leave and didn't want to pack her wet swim suit-so we just kept her in the 20-pound diaper in the pool)

10 year high school reunion!
I can't believe I've been out of high school for 10 years! It seems like yesterday and forever ago at the same time. Our reunion was so much fun-we had desserts and a big dance party! There was also a fun photo booth and we took all kinds of combinations of people (including a cheer pic, as you can see). My parents kept Savannah and Birc and I stayed out until almost 12:30! We're crazy, y'all. :)

Happy 6 Months, Savannah Cate!
Savannah is just So Much Fun right now! I love watching her learn and explore everything! This month she started daycare and (I think) she's adjusting well. It was a hard transition for me and I'm sure for her too. I'm happy she's going and getting to spend time with other children and new people because it tones down her 'stranger danger'! Savannah is weighing in at a whopping 16 pounds and 3 ounces (apparently my scale was off at home when I thought she was 17 pounds), and is 25.75 inches long! She is in the 50% for everything so Aaron is really pleased with her growth and development.
At her 6 month checkup, we discussed a lot! Her head seems to be rounding out on the back so I am glad to get a little sigh of relief with that news, but we're still watching it to make sure it finishes out like it should. She's still on the antibiotic for her Hydronephrosis and our next checkup for that is not until February of next year. She's got a little bit of eczema in several places that we're going to keep an eye on as well. I can't imagine it would be from a food allergy, as I have been off almost every edible item known to man. (We spotted a little blood in her stool that was appearing more than we liked so I stopped eating anything containing egg, dairy, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, or nuts.) I was off everything for 2 weeks and have been slowly adding things back 1 week/1item at a time. I haven't had anything dairy since maybe March? The blood is gone thank goodness and I've added everything back in as of today except dairy, eggs, and fish/shellfish.
Birc and I have tried to introduce some solid foods to Savannah, with NO luck. She has been given some rice cereal and baby oatmeal cereal in her bottle of breastmilk, only to completely REFUSE it! Even when I mix in just a teaspoon with like 4 ounces of milk, she knows it's there and won't drink a drop. (Which then totally wastes the milk I pump all day!) We've also tried to make it thicker in a bowl and feed it to her with a spoon and she adamantly refuses it. Latest news, is, we've tried some green beans and she (of course) hated those as well. I'm planning to make her baby food as it is WAY cheaper and super easy to do! I just took a pound of fresh organic whole green beans and steamed them until soft, then put them in my food processor with some of the steamed water and voila! Then I put the puree in muffin tins and freeze them so I can just pull one out at a time. I'm thinking we're trying green peas next. If that goes badly, we'll just wait a few weeks to try something again. I'm trying to steer clear of the sweeter veggies so she doesn't get my sweet tooth first off. :)
Savannah is wearing all 6 month and 6-9 and even some 6-12 month clothing, and she's still in size 3 diapers. She can sit up on her own and if you put her on her belly she'll circle around but not go forwards or backwards yet. She hasn't figured out how helpful her legs will be. She's still sleeping really well for the most part, just don't ask us where she's sleeping. :) She hates her crib, because she gets really stuffy in it. We've got the humidifier on, we even got a small wedge to put under the sheet, nothing helps her so we're just waiting it out. We start her in the crib every night but she wakes up every 20 minutes until we put her in the swing or carseat.
We just love love love our baby girl and are so happy she's ours.

At her appointment with Aaron:
you wanna take my picture?
I think that's ok with me but let me tell you all about why.
'cause Daddy's in the pictures too!

My little fish
Savannah and I spent Sunday together while Birc went golfing with some friends. We quickly decided to spend some time outside and had a super time! (and miss S stood all by herself for a long time holding on to the chair. Balanced herself and everything!)

Blogger
Grr! I don't know what just happened to my post from Monday but it disappeared! Sorry to those who commented on that and my post from tonight replaced it! I really dislike blogger app. Just thought I'd clear that up!
Par-tay!
We had a little very casual party to celebrate SCM being half a year old! We just had my parents and in-laws and Anna and Aaron over for burgers and hot dogs on the grill with some chips and cake for dessert. I made a round cake and cut it in half and iced it that way :) (you're only 'half' once!) it ended up falling over cause it was too tall but still tasted great! it was so fun to see everyone!
