Just Catching Up

I've got a lot to catch up on.  Y'all, I threw my back out.  Like for real. I could barely walk and could not hold my babies or do anything besides lie on the couch.  Birc was practically a single dad for a few days.  I'm all better mostly and am hoping to write lots of blog posts this week to catch up.  For now, I'm making a list (that's probably not complete) of posts I want to do.  And leave you with some cute photos of my growing babies! Walker got his first tooth on Friday! And his second one on Sunday! I can't believe it! He turned 7 months too. Such a fast year going by.

Palm Sunday Fun

I LOVE Palm Sunday.  I only wish my church would sing "Tell Me The Stories Of Jesus" every year but other than that church was fun.  Hosanna is one of my favorite words used in the Christian faith.  Palm Sunday is the day to say Hosanna over and over! Praise the Lord!

The kids processed through all the different services waving their palm branches and then my kids choir sang. I had some church duties like I always do on Palm Sunday, so Birc got to walk Savannah around.  Walker was asleep in the nursery, so he unfortunately missed out on the palm branches.  (he would have loved chewing on a palm leaf!)  My little people looked so cute and my husband looked so handsome!
in our traditional service, picture taken by a friend!

please notice my baby boy is in shoes.  I just can't take the adorable-ness.

you know, just a lap around the driveway before getting in the car.  Just because that's what we do.

into the contemporary service. We don't attend that service so she was wide-eyed!

Yay for Palm Sunday!  And it is my Friday, church offices are closed on Good Friday! Wahoo!

Doctor Update

(I'll get a Palm Sunday post up before Easter.  I got side-tracked, sorry)
So, Savannah had her yearly checkup on Tuesday at AR Children's Hospital for her hydronephrosis. It was really NOT FUN.  We spent about 3 hours waiting and getting the tests done, ate a quick lunch and let SCM sleep in the car for 45 minutes, and then about 3 more hours of waiting and seeing the doctor.  Her bladder reflux is unfortunately not any better on her right side, and it has actually returned on her left side.  Huge BUMMER.  Not to mention we did so much waiting, and Savannah was so brave, and the tests are NO FUN for Savannah, so I was really hoping and praying for good results at the end of the long day.  She doesn't know that the results weren't good though, and she actually said, "That doctor was so nice!" when our doctor left, because he's the only medical personnel she saw that day that didn't touch her or poke her or something else.  The whole day, though, she just kept crying and crying and asking to go home, and asking the nurses to go away, it was so sad.  She had a VCUG, which involves a catheter being inserted for about 10 minutes.  It was so sad, they put sandbags on her to keep her from moving too much, but also had 3 nurses plus Birc and me holding her down, and before that she had an ultrasound and they forgot to get all the images they needed so they had to do it twice.  Yuck.  Glad it is over for another year.

When we got home, Savannah got to watch her FROZEN DVD for the first time!! Anna got her the DVD a while back and we have been saving it for when she gets potty-trained, but Birc and I considered how brave she was and thought today would be a perfect day to let her open that and watch it.  After that we went to eat with CC and Grandad and then I captured this adorable cuddling on our bed before bath time.  (sorry they're dark)  Savannah missed her brother and just kept "petting" his face.  Adorable.

Outdoor Fun

We had a (mostly) great weekend! A fun evening in the backyard on Friday and outdoors all Saturday, and a big day at church on Palm Sunday.  Only downer was, I ended up with a yucky migraine Sunday but had church duties for like 6 hours so it was brutal for Birc.  I was in bed the entire time I was not at church doing choir stuff.  Not fun for anyone but thankful for a great husband who can handle a day alone with two kiddos!  Anyway, here are some pictures from Friday and Saturday.  I'll get Birc's phone pictures for a Palm Sunday post for Tuesday.

We went out to Pinnacle Mountain to walk on the Kingfisher Trail (flat and paved) and then play on the playground.  Savannah was terrified of the slide she'd never been down.  Luckily, Daddy was there to help her brave it!

Walker got JEALOUS.  He can't wait until he can do the same!

He was still pretty happy to talk to his Mama though.  :)

Here she is, if you look closely, holding on for dear life to the poles in front of the slide trying to brave it a second time, but her Daddy had to talk her into it a second time.  :)

Walker says, "go on, Savannah! It looks so fun!"

She was hot and tired by the end of it, and was ready for her snack.

So we walked to find a bench to sit on and have some goldfish and applesauce.  Of course.

Walker had a bottle even though he wanted the applesauce instead.

Walker's 6 month appointment

Walker had his 6 month appointment today! He was perfect, of course.  He's got some crazy measurements though, but I'm confident things will even out over the next year or two.  His head was 18 inches, 98%…his length was 24.5, not even 2%…and his weight was 17 lb 7 oz, 48%.  Seriously all over the board.  Starting with a huge noggin. :) He's rolling, sitting with a little help, holding toys, chewing everything in sight, (mainly tags and burp cloths and bibs are his thing) grabbing and pulling everything in sight, pushing himself around in the walker, laughing and smiling, cooing and squealing, and just being a perfect baby. he's a great sleeper and eater too.

Anyway, Dr Aaron said he looked great and was on the way to being even more awesome! He's passing all of his milestones and is really doing great for being so premature. I'm so proud of him for enduring so much at the beginning of his tiny life.  He is such a stud.  What a lucky mama I am.  [and just for kick and giggles, I included a pic of Savannah getting dropped off today]

Comparisons

Just look at these two! They look SO much alike and so different at the same time! Savannah on the left, Walker on the right!
