Flashback Friday and Some Thoughts on Give and Take

So I'm doing a little flashback for today, here's my little nugget! What a precious baby!

Also, I think I've finally made the move toward the next season of life and I want to document it so I can know, if and when we ever have another baby, what to prepare for :) I feel like right after you have a baby, there is literally NO time for yourself (a mom), or anything you used to participate in, or your husband and family and friends. It feels like a very 'no give and all take' time, because when Savannah got here I found myself needing all the help I could find. I enjoy giving and doing things for other people and my church. I also love, more than I realized, time to get ready for the day. I like making brownies for my staff and sending a card to my grandparents and getting a treat for my kitties, but I have just had no time to do those types of things until very recently. So: I painted my nails this week for the first time since S was born. I had my sister and brother in law over for a dinner I cooked from scratch. I sent mail to lots of my older relatives. I made 4 batches of pumpkin bread for neighbors and S's teacher. It feels good to be moving into a new season in life with Savannah. I love having her more than anything and I hope she grows to want to give her time and love too.
I would also like to note that if S hadn't been so colicky for so long, I imagine (and hope) that this new season would have come a lot sooner than 9 months. But maybe I'm wrong. ?? Maybe it just comes with increased independence as mobility develops for your child. Hmm...

This weekend I'm off to start on the 10+ projects I've thought of with my new-found somewhat freedom. That's the only bad thing about this new season... :) happy Friday!

Future Songwriters?

So, as Savannah became really colicky, and stayed that way for about 4 or 5 months, and since then each time she gets super fussy, the ONLY thing (besides her Flopsy) that will calm her down is when we sing 'Wheels On The Bus'. I think I've mentioned this before, but, you guys haven't had privilege of hearing all of our new verses yet. Just for my memory's sake, I thought I'd jot down all the verses we have come up with this far (some are ones you know too):
The wheels on the bus go round and round
The driver on the bus says move on back
The mamas on the bus say shh shh shh
The babies on the bus go wah wah wah
The daddies on the bus are reading the paper
The doggies on the bus go woof woof woof
The kitties on the bus go meow meow meow
The people on the bus go up and down
The wipers on the bus go swish swish swish
The antenna on the bus sways back and forth
The doors on the bus go open and shut
The lights on the bus flash on and off
The horn on the bus goes beep beep beep
The brakes on the bus go squeak squeak squeak
The battery on the bus goes click click click
The cell phones on the bus go ring ring ring
Savannah's on the bus saying, I love you

Babe, did I forget any? Now tell me yours too if you have any to add to our list!!

And just so you can see, Savannah got purple toenails today!

PJ fun

Tuesday night we were waiting on Savannah to get sleepy...(she has no bedtime. I am such a crunchy mom with her sleeping habits) and she got crazy on her play mat! She plays peek-a-boo with the circles and pulls the whole thing apart. She also uses those little star stackers as sliders when she's crawling around so she never lifts her hands, just moves her legs back and forth and slides her hands. Smarty pants. :)

The rest of our weekend

The rest of our weekend was super! We celebrated Skip's birthday Saturday night at Yaya's and then came back and avoided the Hogs game like the plague! Then Sunday I had a solo at church so my parents came down and we all went to church, then out to eat with Anna and Aaron. Then I got an awesome nap in and did my afternoon church stuff and we ended the weekend with a nice walk outside! I took no pictures though of any of it, except after the walk. I am already ready for next weekend to be here :)

Could you just eat her up?! She is so cute in her tennis shoes.

Swingin' Fun

We went out to a park on Saturday for a little impromptu family picnic, and Savannah had a ball swinging! Hope you guys had a great weekend like we did. We are so. very. blessed.

Happy Birthday, Gran!

Dinner at our house

Hey mama, what's for dinner? Can I help?

Ok, I am coming FAST!

What should I do to get dinner ready? I can do a really fast waving motion, need me to whip something??

How about I get one of these fantastic toys out?

Ok, I'll stay out of the drawer (for two seconds until you turn around, anyway.)

Caddo, oh Caaaddddoooo, c'mere brother!!

smart cat. hah!

This is an example of a really homecooked meal these days: crescent rolls, a rotisserie chicken, and a can of sweet peas.

We ended the meal with some butter 'n molasses with the extra rolls.  My daddy brought me up right! yum!

Somebody liked all she had! (she also had a jar of mangoes too, but she tried and ate everything we had!)

Yay for a dinner at home mama and daddy! Good job!

Bloggy Catch-Up

I just did some catch-up blogs tonight so if you normally read the top post, you  may want to scroll down! I just didn't want things to get away from me and not get blogged about.  Last few randoms to complete my catch-up: 1. Caddo had to go for his yearly shots Monday and he was NOT HAPPY at all. Poor baby.  2. Savannah wore jeggings and a tunic today and looked absolutely adorable! Miniature adult clothes! But she looked entirely too old to be my baby so she will be back in "baby" clothes tomorrow.  3.  My encore azaleas are blooming again! We planted this entire wrap-around bed the week before we were surprised with finding out Savannah was coming! We bought it all with our tax return money and love them! They bloom 4 times a year! :)

Razorbacks For Life

We are serious Hog fans in this house! We love our Razorbacks but they are really testing our loyalty lately! We tailgated with Savannah and went to the game two weekends ago and she loved it and thought it was so fun! The hogs have obviously no fun losing two weeks in a row but I wanted to show you our cute pictures anyway! Savannah is so easy to do whatever with-she slept when she was tired and ate when she was hungry and played with everyone, letting everybody hold her!
