Happy 9 months to my sweet baby girl! I cannot believe she is so close to being 1!!! She is SO MUCH FUN right now. Birc and I think she is spunky and hilarous and opinionated to the max. She wants what she wants when she wants it. She has figured out that she can decide things too and she loves it. She is just a little chatterbox most of the time and has SUCH a personality.
Savannah was a bit more difficult to photograph this month, and at this rate, I can only imagine what 10, 11, and 12 month photo shoots will be like! She was all over the place as you can see. Savannah has started crawling FAST, a few days after her 9 month birthday. She's also pulling up and standing whenever she is near something she can pull. She is just beginning to get into everything, which is why the baby-proofing has to happen this weekend.
She's taking about 25-30 ounces of breastmilk, either nursing or from a bottle, each day. She has 4 official times she eats during the day but sometimes she wakes up in the night and wants to eat an extra 4 or 5 ounces. She's eating solids three or four times a day. She sometimes has breakfast, depending on when she wakes up, and then has a veggie and fruit for lunch, a fruit and crackers for snack, and a veggie and fruit for dinner as well as samples of everything we eat. She figured out how to spit her food back at us this month and if she does not love what we put in her mouth, she sprays it all over whoever is feeding her. Her Grandad and Uncle Aaron think it is hilarous and encourage it, but Birc and I are hoping it is a short habit she drops very fast!
She is wearing just about every size of clothing. She has some 6 month things that still fit fine, but she's also into some of her small 12 month things, as well as wearing all 6-9 and 6-12 month things. I'm about to go through her closet and pull out all of the summer clothes so she will be dressed for the appropriate season (even if it still is 100). She weighs 18 pounds, 9 ounces (little girl!) and is 27.5 inches tall with a 17.5 inch noggin. Aaron said she is still perfect and right down the 50% for everthing. We are really happy with her growth and her checkup today went great. Her head has rounded out and Aaron is done watching it so that is a relief, and her skin is all clear, no bloody poo, so really the only thing we're dealing with still is the Hydronephrosis. Which is really hopefully going to become a non-issue. We're praying she is growing out of it as we speak. She got a flu shot today and will get a second one in 30 days so she will be well-protected this winter!
She is a little bit of a picky eater (no idea where she gets that-must be Birc...my parents are laughing so hard right now I'm sure!) but here are things she likes: apples, pears, mangoes, bananas (only fresh, no baby food with it), blueberries, strawberries, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, spinach, carrots (mixed with other stuff), mum mum crackers, cheese, and she LOVES her water in a sippy cup and her 1 ounce of prune juice every day.
Like I said before, we also let her sample almost everything we're eating and she loves it usually. Especially if it is sweet or any bread or cheese. Hah. Her mother's child apparently. :)
Sweet girl is still tooth-less and I have NO idea when a tooth will ever come through. Since it's so late already, I'm hoping she goes ahead and waits until a year to get some since I'm still nursing. She chews on EVERYTHING but is not especially drool-y so that's nice. Her gums still look exactly the same and so I see no humps or bumps or any sign of change.
Sleep. Oh sleep. the least favorite part of everyone's day. Even the cats hate bedtime. Savannah is still not sleeping well through the night. She can do it and does sometimes marathon sleep for 13 hours or so, but most nights she wakes up twice. Sometimes we can put the paci back in and she falls right back to sleep but sometimes I have to nurse her back to sleep. When we got back from Florida she was waking up every 2 hours. Like a newborn, I tell ya, it was awful! She's doing a lot better already from that short phase, and I can only hope it will get better from here. All I want for my birthday next month is a whole night's sleep (while I'm asking, let's make it 10 hours straight) without being interrupted.
Savannah has done a lot in her 9th month! She went on her first vacation to Florida, and passed through several states she's never seen! Mississippi, Alabama and Florida all on one trip! That makes 5 states she's been in after her Branson trip last month plus Arkansas. (Am I missing one?)
She's taking even more of a liking to the cats this month and talks to them with a sound reserved just for them. It is so cute and she gets so excited!
I think she's made a new friend at her class at school. When I walk in to drop her off, one of the new little girls squeals in delight and Savannah starts waving her arms and screeching right back! Charlee is her new favorite playmate at school! It is so cute!
She's saying most of the same consanants she was last month, just louder and clearer. She says mamamama, dadadada, bababababa, byebyebyebyebye, yayayaya, and tatatatata mostly but can make all the other sounds too. I think she loves to hear herself talk and just babbles all day long. Her favorite song is STILL Wheels on the Bus and it is sometimes the only thing we can do to make her stop screaming. By the time we're on the third stanza she is quiet!
What a smart and beautiful baby girl you are, Savannah! We love you so much and love seeing you every day learn something new and experience life! You are precious to me. :)
Kudos if you made it to the bottom of the long boring post. :)
