Happy Birthday, Grandad!

Savannah has a message she needed me to pass along:

Happiest of Birthdays, Grandad!

Wait, is that what this says, Mama?

It just says happy? But I want it to be his happiest birthday ever!

I bet if I fold this card up and give it to him that'll make it is happiest birthday yet! :)

Really, mama? it's just ME that makes this Grandad's happiest birthday yet? WOW I am special!
Grandad, I hope you had a great first day as a 60-year old.  I think you're just awesome and I love to play with your hair, let you walk me around on your shoulders, and get pushed in the swings by you.  I also love the sweets that you (and also my mama, let's be honest) let me eat, and coming to your house to play with all your fun toys.  I can't wait to see a magic trick and go swimming and go on a trip and learn to golf and help you rake leaves and play legos and who knows what else! Anything is fun with you, Grandad! I love you and Happy 60th Birthday!

Break Over and a Happy Birthday!

My bloggy break is over, or maybe I'm just over this break, I don't know which.  Unfortunately I've been just slightly under the weather the entire time and cannot seem to shake my cold, or whatever I have.  I am read to feel 100% again. I have tons of pictures to go through and lots to update the blog with, so hopefully all of my faithful readers will return!  For now, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my awesome, wonderful, smart, and talented Daddy! I love you so much and hope you had a great day celebrating! Savannah will have a special post for you tomorrow.  She konked out before we could get any pictures taken, so I'll leave you with a few oldies but goodies of my dear Daddy!

Daddy I hope you know how much I love you and appreciate all you do for me and our family! I know we don't say it enough but we all think you're top notch and I am so glad you're my Daddy! I love you and am happy I got to help you celebrate today!

Taking a break: Focus on the Family

With such a busy week ahead and Christmas next week, I think I'm going to take a little bloggy break this week.  I hope I can get one other post up this week but I might not, so I just thought I'd warn all (4) of my readers.  :)

We had a great weekend as a family and I am so looking forward to lots more family time ahead for Christmas! I love family time! Which is why I am taking a little break.  I just want to enjoy this week and not let myself feel bombarded with busyness.

We got our tree! We had a slight, um, disagreement on the height we needed and I obviously lost that discussion. :)

Pretty Baby. :)

We met up with Savannah's favorite friends for lunch at a train restaurant where the food comes to you on a train! They loved it!

Pretty Baby.  again! This time before church :)

Birc's and my gingerbread house.  We didn't love the kit we bought this year but it'll do! It was easy which was nice!

I don't even think this photo needs a caption. Haha!

Friday Funnies

Just a few quick photos that I've wanted to post but couldn't fit in! Happy weekend everybody!

Savannah: One Year

I absolutely positively cannot believe Savannah is one year old! It just seems so fast! I feel like she's been here forever and just arrived all at the same time.  She's turned into quite the busy bee this past month and is learning by leaps and bounds! I am so proud of how smart she is!
Savannah has 3 teeth and is eating like a champ! Her favorites are bananas, raspberries, puffs, cheese, turkey, and mangoes but she eats a lot of other things and still a lot of baby food.  With only two teeth in on the bottom and the top left just having broken through last week she can't eat a lot of hard foods yet.  She has a banana almost every morning for breakfast and if she hasn't had it by 10 AM she starts going "b-nana...b-nana....b-nana!!!" until she gets a taste of her favorite food!

Savannah is wearing size 3 diapers, and is exactly 20.000 pounds and is I think 28 inches long which is down to the 35% but her head is a whopping 65%! Hah! Speaking of her head, her hair is really growing and filling in everywhere! I put it in pigtails this month and she looked just precious.  It is exactly my same hair color.  We are pretty sure she is a brown-eyed girl but they still have a bit of a grayish tone.  We think she's about to hit a little growth spurt because her belly is sticking out a lot! So cute!  She's wearing mostly 12 months stuff but the arms are all too long and she can still fit into some 9-12 and 6-12 month things too.  Some 12 month stuff that I had gotten for the holiday season won't fit her :(

Miss Savannah Cate is still not sleeping all night long but we are consistently doing better every day and every night.  Right now she's going to bed between 8 and 9 and usually waking only once until 7:00 and then she eats and goes back to sleep until about 9:30.  She's staying asleep for about 12 hours every night and if she could just not miss me so much and want a little 5 minute visit from her mama at night she could be even more rested!

She has started taking one whole milk bottle at daycare, about 6 ounces and so with the weaning process I am planning to cut out the morning feeding next and give her a whole milk bottle (which will turn into a sippy cup-Aaron don't judge us!).  Last I will cut out the night feedings. I am hoping to have her completely weaned before she's 13 months.  I am just thrilled to not be taking the pump to work anymore.  Praise the Lord that stage is OVER.

Savannah is walking like a champ and is just almost running sometimes! She gets so excited that she starts going on her toes right before she gets to what she was heading towards. It is really cute! She is not crawling at all anymore and has pretty much lost the "Frankenstein walk" too.  She can say mama, dada, nana, b-nana, hot, keys, bubble, baba (for balloon), cheese (sounds like ceese since she can't make the "h" sound), chicken, boys (the cats), and can make a horse, cat, lamb, duck, and cow sound.  She is really following commands and can understand a lot of what we say.  She knows where her belly, ears, hair, eyes, nose, and toes are and can point to them when she is asked.  If I ask her to take her bow out and bring it to me or put her toy in the basket she can do it! Smartypants!!  She can also shake her head yes and no and if I tell her no (for example, unrolling all the toilet paper all over the bathroom), she will later walk over to the toilet paper and shake her head no at it.  And sometimes choose to pull it all over the bathroom anyway.  We will have our hands full with this spunky girl!

Well this wraps up the monthly updates officially but I'll try to update as I can with her development from time to time.  I am SO thrilled and feel blessed beyond measure to have Savannah in our family.  Birc and I love her so much and thank God for blessing us with her.

Party Time!

So we (well, I did) decided to have big party for our one year-old on Saturday so family and friends could celebrate this past year with us! I didn't really have a theme or anything but I knew it would have to go with all of our Christmas decor which would already be out so I didn't want half my house to clash with her party decor! So I went with red and teal.  There were lots of "1"s around and pictures of Savannah.  We just visited and played and then we sang happy birthday while she stared intently at the flame on her candle, and then she let me feed her over half her cupcake! She just does NOT like to get her hands dirty! Then I opened her presents and she kept making this "WOW!" face at every gift  I opened-it was so cute! We had such a great time and I was so glad so many family and friends were able to come help celebrate! Anna was our resident photographer with her fancypants camera, so most of these photos are from her.  Here's a look at Savannah's party!

**UMM...warning.  I just uploaded maybe a million pictures to this post because I just couldn't decide! Sorry so long!**

party favors!

Since this is technically what Birc and I gave her we put a bow and a big note on the swing set!

WHAT IS THAT BRIGHT ORANGE FLICKERING THING YOU'RE BRING TOWARD ME????
chaos.  but fun!

well I wanted a pic of some babies.  We had about 10 or 11 kids there but these 4 all seemed to be in the same area so I thought it was a good idea.

party's over, y'all! the dress has come off!
I promise Birc really was there the whole time too but I think the only two pictures I have of him are this one and the one above where he's swinging one of our Sunday School classmate's kid on a swing!

Anyway I think miss SCM had a great time and we all crashed as soon as everyone left and we cleaned up!
