Happy 6 Months, Savannah Cate!

Savannah is just So Much Fun right now! I love watching her learn and explore everything!  This month she started daycare and (I think) she's adjusting well.  It was a hard transition for me and I'm sure for her too.  I'm happy she's going and getting to spend time with other children and new people because it tones down her 'stranger danger'!  Savannah is weighing in at a whopping 16 pounds and 3 ounces (apparently my scale was off at home when I thought she was 17 pounds), and is 25.75 inches long! She is in the 50% for everything so Aaron is really pleased with her growth and development.

At her 6 month checkup, we discussed a lot!  Her head seems to be rounding out on the back so I am glad to get a little sigh of relief with that news, but we're still watching it to make sure it finishes out like it should.  She's still on the antibiotic for her Hydronephrosis and our next checkup for that is not until February of next year. She's got a little bit of eczema in several places that we're going to keep an eye on as well.  I can't imagine it would be from a food allergy, as I have been off almost every edible item known to man.  (We spotted a little blood in her stool that was appearing more than we liked so I stopped eating anything containing egg, dairy, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, or nuts.)  I was off everything for 2 weeks and have been slowly adding things back 1 week/1item at a time.  I haven't had anything dairy since maybe March? The blood is gone thank goodness and I've added everything back in as of today except dairy, eggs, and fish/shellfish.

Birc and I have tried to introduce some solid foods to Savannah, with NO luck.  She has been given some rice cereal and baby oatmeal cereal in her bottle of breastmilk, only to completely REFUSE it! Even when I mix in just a teaspoon with like 4 ounces of milk, she knows it's there and won't drink a drop.  (Which then totally wastes the milk I pump all day!)  We've also tried to make it thicker in a bowl and feed it to her with a spoon and she adamantly refuses it.  Latest news, is, we've tried some green beans and she (of course) hated those as well.  I'm planning to make her baby food as it is WAY cheaper and super easy to do! I just took a pound of fresh organic whole green beans and steamed them until soft, then put them in my food processor with some of the steamed water and voila! Then I put the puree in muffin tins and freeze them so I can just pull one out at a time.  I'm thinking we're trying green peas next.  If that goes badly, we'll just wait a few weeks to try something again.  I'm trying to steer clear of the sweeter veggies so she doesn't get my sweet tooth first off. :)

Savannah is wearing all 6 month and 6-9 and even some 6-12 month clothing, and she's still in size 3 diapers.  She can sit up on her own and if you put her on her belly she'll circle around but not go forwards or backwards yet.  She hasn't figured out how helpful her legs will be.  She's still sleeping really well for the most part, just don't ask us where she's sleeping. :) She hates her crib, because she gets really stuffy in it.  We've got the humidifier on, we even got a small wedge to put under the sheet, nothing helps her so we're just waiting it out.  We start her in the crib every night but she wakes up every 20 minutes until we put her in the swing or carseat.
(this is her new trick: throwing her head way back)

We just love love love our baby girl and are so happy she's ours.

Here are some more pictures for your enjoyment!

At her appointment with Aaron:

you wanna take my picture?

I think that's ok with me but let me tell you all about why.

'cause Daddy's in the pictures too!

oh she is just too sweet!! love that happy face! Maxwell never liked the green veggies much at all. he MUCH preferred carrots, sweet potatoes and squash. You might go on and give those a try!

She is the cutest! Keep trying the veggies and don't be afraid to introduce fruits. Breast milk is very sweet so I'm sure she is already a fan. Nate loved all the orange veggies and slowly got used to the green ones. She'll be gobbling it all up before you realize it. Good luck!
