I cannot believe my baby girl is 8 months old! It seems like she was just born and here she is, such a grown up looking baby! Savannah has had a busy month filled with learning a lot and lots of new experiences.
She can say the following consonant sounds: b, c, d, g, k, m, p, s, t, and th. I think she's just brilliant of course. :) She is talking a bunch these days and we love it! She still screams at the top of her lungs just for fun and it can be either hilarous or very embarrassing, depending on where we are!
Sweet girl is still taking 6 oz in bottle of breastmilk at daycare and nursing when we are together. She is eating solids two or three times each day. She's eaten sweet potatoes, apples, pears, squash, green beans, and she likes sweet potatoes and apples the best. We also let her sample almost everything we are eating except anything with nuts or shellfish.
She is still not sleeping consistently through the night but does so about half or maybe a third of the time. She sleeps in her crib or her carseat, depending on what she wants. :) I am just not a mama who can let her baby cry it out. I know most people tell me that is what I should be doing or have done by now, but it just does NOT seem natural for Savannah's and my relationship. Other people can do it and it is just fine but it is not for me. Therefore, I try not to complain about being tired so much anymore, but it still happens (the complaining), I won't lie.
Savannah is almost crawling! She is scooting on her belly everywhere and can spin, roll, and turn every which way but is not up on her hands and knees with her belly off the ground for any length of time yet. She can move herself all around the house if we let her though. I have no idea how much she weighs or how long/tall she is but I don't think she's grown much at all since 7 months because she still fits in everything she was wearing. In months past, I was packing up clothes each month and I haven't put one thing away this month as it all still fits. I'll try to weigh and measure her asap.

| Just keeping it real. The whole photo shoot was not all smiles. :) |
Everything is going in this girl's mouth but she still has NO TEETH. I can't believe it but apparently she'll be gumming down her food forever more. About every third day I pick her up at daycare, her teachers tell me, 'she must be getting teeth tonight because she is so drool-y and is chewing on everything.' But nothing ever happens :)
Savannah is wearing all 6 month, 6-9, and 6-12 month clothes and is still in size 3 swaddler diapers. She went out of Arkansas for the first time to Branson with Anna and Aaron and Tucker (the doggie) and us. She's figured out how to clap this month and smiles on command when we hold a camera cell phone up to her. She knows her name and who mama, daddy, Caddo, Cadence, CC, Grandad, Nana, Gran, Aaron, Anna, Bon Jovi, and Dixie all are. There is some controversy over this, but she does say bye bye, Dada, and a few other little word/sounds for stuff. The controversy is over whether she knows what she's saying to count it as her first word or not. Clearly I am sure she doesn't know what she's saying but Birc is equally sure she called him Dada one day. ;) We'll see! I think she might understand bye bye though, because when we get in the car and she's in her seat, she goes 'bye bye bye bye bye bye...' and it's adorable!
Savannah, we love you so much and I am so happy you are my baby girl! I can't imagine life without you now that you're here! I am so happy you seem to be over the colic and feeling so happy and smiley all the time now. Everywhere we go people comment on what a happy baby she is and I just soak it up every. single. time. I can't wait to see what next month brings!
Kudos to you if you made it to the end of this long post!

And kudos to you and Birc for producing such a sweet little dynamo of happiness!
Hahaha. D started saying Dada around that time as well. I refused to count it but it was pretty obvious a month later. Mamas just want to hear Mama first. Our doc said Dada is pretty interchangeable at that age too- she's talking to you too. :-). Do what's best for you and Savannah. I couldn't let my lo's cry it out until they were much older. Everything will work out great. She's beautiful!
I'm envious of CC getting to be with my cute little granddaughter this week. WOW - 8 months!! Savannah's happiness reflects her good environment and parenting skills provided by you and Birc along with CC's patience, love, and care when she stays with her. Savannah also receives a lot of love and attention from Skip, Ann, and me, too. She is such a joy!
